Point Dume

Enjoy privacy next to scenic cliffs and the ocean

Welcome to Point Dume

This iconic part of the California coastline is known as a celebrity oasis with airy beachfront
properties. The stunning bluffs and immediate waters have been preserved as part of the Point
Dume State Marine Conservation Area for generations. This desirable locale includes properties
on an enviable part of the Pacific shoreline that only spans one mile in length yet is home to
some of the most exclusive communities and private estates in Southern California.

The architectural style in Point Dume predominately reflects contemporary coastal fashion,
which means many open spaces, linear planes, copious floor-to-ceiling glass walls, and other
minimalist design features. Point Dume is a particular area of land on and near the Pacific
coastline south of Central Malibu, the Santa Monica Mountains, and The Pacific Coast Highway.
Zuma Beach flanks it on the west and Ramirez Canyon to the east, while the properties face the
sea. Not surprisingly, properties in this locale have rare, scenic views of the cliffs, and the
homes are exquisite villas.

What to Love
● Access to a private beach
● Lands precious to Marine Science and protected wildlife
● Tide pools with crystalline waters
● Oceanfront private property with state-of-the-art amenities
● Point Dume Village, boutiques, and ocean-facing restaurants

Local Lifestyle
Point Dume locals' hobbies often involve watersports and making use of the numerous public
beaches and/or their private access points to the waterfront. Many people enjoy surfing,
swimming, and boating during their leisure time. Countless others prefer hiking along the rugged
embankments towering over the beaches, maintaining their cultivated gardens, or even walking
down secluded road lanes on their property. There's light shopping in the area, so many people
can also spend the day browsing for apparel in cute boutiques. Many locals enjoy living only 36
miles outside Los Angeles while still having their homes on a quiet oceanfront property rather
than in a large city.

Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping
The major commercial shopping center in this seaside community is Point Dume Village, where
residents can try a healthy, gourmet smoothie at SunLife Organics or a scoop of vegan ice
cream at Le Cafe de la Plage Malibu. Nestled in this shopping plaza, Lily's Malibu has been
serving sumptuous Mexican cuisine for over 25 years. For those who want to take in the
shoreline, the Paradise Cove Beach Café has tables for dining right on the sand, and patrons can relax while dining on contemporary, surf-style foods paired with fruity cocktails.

Also directly on the coast, Geoffrey's restaurant has many outside dining options for patrons
while they sample dishes like steamed Maine lobster, Pacific swordfish, ahi tuna, and more. The
Sunset Restaurant is another world-class restaurant where those who dine in can experience
gorgeous hillside views and take in the ocean while ordering fresh seafood catches or a variety
of hearty steaks and meat. Finally, Gravina Malibu is slightly north of Point Dume and is an
authentic Italian restaurant where the staff speaks flawless Italian.

Things to Do
Many people in Point Dume avail themselves of the Point Dume Nature Preserve, which
involves walking on winding trails with beachy wooden posts and following the incline down
to Big Dume Beach. The overlook is perfect for photography, watching the local sea lions and
gray whales, and catching the sunset. On less crowded beaches like Westward Beach, locals
can go rock climbing on challenging cliffs. While some residents may enjoy private beach
access, many public beaches provide places for people to gather who participate in elite surfing
communities, such as what can be found at Zuma Beach. West Coast surfing in Point Dume is a
highly competitive sport.

Although many enjoy the natural wildlife preserve, pristine beaches, and scenic cliffs, residents
remain engaged in the community through various festivals and events year-round. In the
summertime, Point Dume holds a Fourth of July Parade at the corner of Birdview and Bluewater.
The Bank of Books hosts the Point Dume Halloween Parade, and children are allowed to march
through town in their Halloween costumes. In December, The Point Dume Santa Sleigh Tour
celebrates the Christmas season with lighted floats, holiday music, and decorations downtown
to celebrate Christmas near the beach.
